Carrier Transicold of Utah: Powering the Fight Against Hunger with the Utah Food Bank
When it comes to addressing food insecurity in Utah, one name stands out as a crucial partner in the fight: Carrier Transicold of Utah. Recently, they took center stage by providing the Utah Food Bank with a next-generation Supra truck refrigeration unit, ensuring that perishable food items reach those in need at the optimal temperature and quality. This donation, made possible through Carrier Corporate, represents a significant boost for the Food Bank’s efforts to feed communities throughout the state.
A Partnership Making a Difference
For over 110 years, the Utah Food Bank has been committed to serving Utah’s food-insecure population. With over 36 million meals distributed in 2018 alone through a network of 150 partner agencies, the organization plays a vital role in addressing hunger across all 29 counties of Utah. However, to keep up with the demand, the Food Bank relies heavily on an extensive fleet of 47 vehicles that travel enough miles each year to circle the earth 19 times. This relentless dedication to reaching those in need requires advanced technology to ensure food safety and efficiency—and that’s where Carrier Transicold of Utah comes in.
By installing the state-of-the-art Supra refrigeration unit onto one of the Food Bank’s 24-foot box trucks, Carrier Transicold of Utah is helping keep perishable food fresh and safe as it makes its way to food pantries and community programs across the state. The donation is part of Carrier Corporate’s ongoing grant program supporting food banks within the Feeding America network. To date, Carrier Corporate’s initiative has provided over $300,000 worth of equipment to food banks in states such as Connecticut, New York, and California. And now, Utah Food Bank has joined this list of beneficiaries, gaining access to world-class refrigeration technology that will further enhance their operations.
Carrier Transicold of Utah: A Commitment to the Community
“Utah Food Bank does great work for people in need locally and in communities throughout the state,” said Royal Richards, Sales Manager at Carrier Transicold of Utah.“ Our employees were especially proud to be a part of this initiative.”
This heartfelt dedication to community service is what sets Carrier Transicold of Utah apart. They not only provide innovative refrigeration solutions but also demonstrate a deep-rooted commitment to supporting local initiatives. Whether it’s through donations like the Supra reefer unit or by providing reliable maintenance and service to keep food bank vehicles running smoothly, Carrier Transicold of Utah has become an indispensable partner in the fight against hunger.
Keeping Food Fresh for Those in Need
Ginette Bott, President and CEO of Utah Food Bank, expressed her gratitude, saying, “With this gift, Carrier Transicold is helping Utah Food Bank to collect food from local drives, food manufacturers and grocery rescue programs and transport that food, free of cost, to our partner agencies, so it’s available for seniors, adults and children at moments in their lives when they simply don’t have enough money for food. The value of the Supra unit is equal to the cost of about 48,100 meals provided by our organization.”
For Utah Food Bank, this is more than just a piece of equipment. It’s a means to reach more communities, provide better service, and ensure that healthy, nutritious food is always available for those who need it most.
Feeding the Future
Carrier Corporate’s efforts don’t end with a single donation. As part of a larger initiative to support the Feeding America network of food banks across the U.S., Carrier Corporate continues to make a difference, one truck at a time. “Our cold-chain technologies help preserve, protect and deliver the world’s food supply,” said Jon Shaw, Director of Global Communications & Sustainability at Carrier Corporate.“ In supporting Feeding America and its network members, such as Utah Food Bank, we are also helping to get nutritious and healthy perishable food to those most in need here in the United States.”
Carrier’s Community
Carrier Transicold of Utah is more than a TRU (trailer refrigeration unit) dealership—they are a community partner. Their contributions go beyond business; they reflect a genuine concern for the well-being of the people in their community. By equipping the Utah Food Bank with reliable truck refrigeration, Carrier Transicold of Utah is helping to ensure that no child, adult, or senior in the state has to go without a meal.
